Wells Branch, TX Real Estate

In the 1980s Provident Development bought 900 plus acres that included an old cabin and an outhouse and a stone smokehouse. The cabin was rumored to be owned by Nelson Merrell, an Ohio native who settled in Brushy Creek around 1837. Merrell sold the property in 1846 and after that the land changed hands several more times. In 1853 John M. Gault bought the property and the property remained in the Gault family for 40 years. The cabin at Wells Branch still stands today as a tribute to the hard days of early Texas.

Today, Wells Branch is a thriving Austin suburb with over 11,000 residents. The community has a median home price of just over $115,000 and most homes in the area were built in the 1970s and 1980s although newer homes are available as well. The community is quiet with shady tree lined streets where residents are friends and the community could be the poster child for suburban life. Wells Branch offers small town charm within the hustle and bustle of a large metro area.
