Taylor, TX Real Estate

Taylor is centrally located along two major highways and is just 30 miles northeast of Austin. In the 1870s the International & Great Northern Railroad was under construction in central Texas. One station along the way was to be Taylorsville, named after a railroad official. In anticipation of the new station, the Texas Land Company laid out streets, a park, a town square and lots were sold. Prices ranged from $20.00 to $350.00. In 1876, the railroad reached Taylorsville and the new town grew. Today this town is known as Taylor.

Today Taylor is a thriving small community with about 17,000 happy and friendly residents. These people, tired of the hustle and bustle of a large metro area have found a haven of peace and tranquility in Taylor. But Taylor isn't just a sleepy central Texas town but rather a community committed to preserving the past and maintaining a lifestyle while implementing the future. You'll enjoy a vibrant downtown revitalization that has brought the past into the present with charming antiques shops, old timey barbecue joints, period architecture and city wide WiFi availability. Businesses thrive in Taylor and so do the residents.

Taylor has its own school district, Taylor Independent School District. The district has four campuses that provide a nurturing yet rigorous learning environment where parent participation is welcomed and sporting and extracurricular activities add fun and imagination to the learning experience. The district and campuses continue to meet and exceed their goals as well as meeting the strict State of Texas educational requirements. These requirements are in place to produce a well educated and happy child. Schools, community, parents and faculty have joined forces to enrich the Taylor Independent School District learning environment.

Homes in Taylor are reasonably priced, especially when you consider all the community has to offer. The median price for a home in Taylor is less than $100,000 and the homes are very nice. Many are older and well kept. Homes have large yards with sprawling lawns, large trees and period architecture that lends Taylor its old time charm. Many homes have remained in the same family for decades. Newcomers to the area are amazed at the amount of home your housing dollar buys but with recent growth Taylor is sure to become more expensive as word gets out on what a great place to live Taylor Texas is.
