Mayfield Preserve along the shores of Lake Austin is a 22 acre turn of the century park with tame deer, peacocks and lily ponds. The area has the feel of by-gone days. Reed Park is the heart of Tarrytown and is where many residents congregate to picnic and hike, swim and enjoy nature within the city. Residents of Tarrytown are fortunate to have such diversity within reach while enjoying quiet streets of a suburban oasis.

Tarrytown children attend Austin Independent School District. The district has 110 campuses with over 82,000 students. The district is dedicated to preparing students for the challenges and hurdles of the 21st century. Their approach to this goal includes a wide range of programs to help each child individually. Academics, sports and extracurricular activities all combine in a cohesive plan that helps every child meet their educational goals. Student test scores have never been better and the district and parents are excited by the continuing achievements of the Austin ISD students.
