Rollingwood was established in 1953 by George B. Hartley and was incorporated in 1963. At that time Rollingwood was home to about 400 residents. Today Rollingwood is called home by over 1400 residents. The small community is situated along the west banks of Lake Austin and has gained an affluent status due in part to its location. Most homes in Rollingwood were built starting early in the 1960s and continued through the 1980s giving this small town a post modern feel. You'll see ranch style homes, traditional, colonial and Tudor architecture all represented along the winding streets of Rollingwood.

Rollingwood enjoys a diverse yet prosperous community with an average yearly household income exceeding $108,000. Home prices range from the mid $100,000 to well over a million dollars. Construction of new homes is growing but many newcomers to Rollingwood are drawn to the well established tree lined streets featuring homes built in the last century.

This small suburb of Austin is part of the acclaimed Eanes Independent School District and the community is proud of this fact. A high emphasis is put on education in Rollingwood and Eanes ISD provides its students with a top notch education. Many of the schools within the Eanes ISD have attained Blue Ribbon status, the highest distinction for an American school. Eanes ISD provides education to around 7100 students from 9 area schools including 6 primary campuses, two middle school campuses and one high school campus. Students in Eanes ISD thrive on a high level of education tempered with a boisterous mixture of athletics and extra curricular activities to produce happy and well rounded students.

While Rollingwood is only a few minutes from downtown Austin, the community can be described as self contained and many area residents have the luxury of never leaving this lovely little community. You'll find eateries services and businesses providing every necessity and amenity for a happy life situated along Bee Cave Road, the southern edge of town. Here residents congregate to shop, dine and socialize with friends and neighbors and many walk or bike to the area enjoying the balmy weather.
