Manor was situated along the Houston and Central Texas railway line and had three churches, six general stores, and a population of 125. Northwest Travis County is home to Manor Texas, which is pronounced MAYner. Manor started out as Grassville in 1859 with James Manor as the postmaster. The post office discontinued one year later but another was established in 1871. This time the town was called Gregg. Gregg didn't last long and was renamed Manor in honor of James Manor that same year.
