Henly, TX Real Estate

Henly is a small town north of U.S. Highway 290 between Johnson City and Austin. The community started out in the 1880s and was named after the original owner of the site. At that time the community was little more than a wide spot in the road. By the mid 1880s the community was based in farming with cotton the main crop. The town consisted of a community school, a justice of the peace, a doctor's office and a post office.

Through the 1880s and on into the 1900s the community's population never swayed much from 25. Although population remained steady businesses slowly moved away. In the 1930s and 1940s only two businesses remained and in 1952 the last business in Henly left. The post office was discontinued in 1965. Today Henly is considered part of Dripping Springs and shares its zip code.

Dripping Springs Independent School District provides education for the children of Henly. Dripping Springs ISD is home to 5 campuses and a growing student population. The district takes its roll as educator seriously and employs the help of family and community to aid its success. The district consistently exceeds state educational goals while the campuses have their own glowing recognition reports and awards of outstanding educational achievement.

Student testing scores are on the rise as teachers and parents both nurture an environment that promotes learning in a fun and creative way. Students of Dripping Springs ISD receive a lasting education based on traditional learning and educational values incorporated with parent participation, athletic activities and extra curricular programs that make school and learning a fun activity in Henly.

When Dripping Springs started to see community growth Henly was part of that growth. After years of only a few older homes, new housing communities were springing up and the once stagnant community was starting to see new faces in and around the area. New friends and neighbors were moving to Henly. The residents were at first a little standoffish but as more people came to the area the old timers of Henly suddenly became popular locals who could share their knowledge and insights to these new residents. Slowly the boundaries of Henly and Dripping Springs narrowed as civilization encroached. Today the residents of Henly can still enjoy a slow pace of life while conveniences of shopping and dining are now only minutes away.
