In 1853 three families left Mississippi. With all of their belongings packed carefully in covered wagons, they set out in the fall of that year for Texas. In January of 1854 they found their new home. Only 30 miles from Austin the area was still considered the frontier and Indians were present as well as other frontier dangers. Dripping Springs is on the move and growing with new housing developments businesses and community facilities. The current population does not reflect the growing areas surrounding Dripping Springs. This number could top 20,000 but despite this seemingly large number of residents, Dripping Springs maintains a small town feel where neighbors are friends and the community as a whole believes in family values, healthy living, maintaining nature and small town welcomes.

Dripping Springs values its small town reputation but sees the need for improving infrastructure to accommodate the growing population. Several road improvements are slated as well as a recently completed new city library and 30 acre park with ball fields, a community pool and play equipment for residents both young and old to enjoy. Dripping Springs mixes a small town atmosphere with nature and modern infrastructure, the result is a town that more and more people see as the perfect place to call home.
