Del Valle, TX Real Estate

Del Valle Texas was established in the 1870s and was named for its location on Santiago Del Valle's land grant. The town is situated along the shores of the Colorado River seven miles southeast of Austin. The first post office opened 1878 with William Givens as the postmaster.

In the Mid-1880s the community had grown and 50 residents called Del Valle home. At that time there were three churches, a school, a steam gristmill, a general store, and two cotton gins. Cotton and grain were the cash crops for the area. The community thrived but with the onset of the depression the population dropped and a community that once boasted 150 residents dropped to only 25. The Bergstrom Air Force Base boosted the local economy and the population started to rise again in the 1940s. The base was closed in 1993. Today, Del Valle has a population of over 800 friendly people.

With the expansion of SH 30, Del Valle is experiencing an influx of new building and new residents. The Del Valle median price home is very affordable at $104,000 and new home builders in the area give you a lot of home for your buying dollar. New communities are mingling with the old for an eclectic but eye pleasing community atmosphere and the amenities for both established and new communities are diverse. Living in Del Valle is an easy choice but choosing from the well loved established neighborhoods with large lawns, huge shady trees and meandering streets or the bright and shiny new communities with eclectic architecture and the lure of all that is new can be a hard decision.

Del Valle Independent School District provides education for Del Valle children as well as several nearby communities. The district has 10 campuses that provide the student population with learning tools to last a lifetime. The faculty of Del Valle ISD is a well qualified and diverse group that strives to meet the ever changing needs of its students. The district takes pride in the quality education it provides its students but also takes pride in district achievements. The District continually strives to excel by meeting and exceeding Texas state education requirements. The district and students are both thriving with outstanding educational achievements that prepare students for life after school.
