Cedar Park, TX Real Estate

Early Cedar Park Texas may be best known for the shell stone that was quarried in the area. At first the enterprise was small but around 1900 the stone had become a popular building material and was shipped world wide. With only a post office and a grocery store, the town was small with few residents but Cedar Park Texas continued to grow and in 1974 two Cedar Park resident groups petitioned for incorporation and the petition was granted. The first Mayor elected was Kenneth Bell.

Today Cedar Park is enjoying continual growth, due in part to its proximity to Austin, only 17 miles away, but also due to the town's easy life style and quality of life. Cedar Park offers outdoor recreation in many forms including community pools and parks but also nearby Lake Travis and other popular local outdoor destinations as well as cultural activities geared towards the residents of the area. Visitors love the area also and some decide Cedar Park is the perfect place to live. This may be one of the reasons Cedar Park has gown from just 5000 residents in 1990 to over 40,000 today.

With 30 campuses and over 30,000 students, the Leander Independent School District is one of the largest school districts in Texas and one of the most accomplished and successful as well. Many of the schools in the Leander ISD have met and exceeded the state of Texas' educational standards. The students reflect the high standards of the district and student testing results are always encouraging. The teachers and parents are proud of their students and their accomplishments and because of the tight knit cooperation between these two groups the Leander Independent School District can only flourish.
