Bee Cave Texas was first settled by the Bohls family. Dietrich Bolhs wanted a simpler life for his family, so in the 1850s he moved his family from a small home in Austin to the area later to be called Bee Cave. This area was predominantly inhabited by Native Americans at the time but despite the dangers the Bohls family set up residence. The name Bee Cave came to be used more as a description of the area due to large bee hives located near Barton Creek and Little Barton Creek. The Village of Bee Cave was officially declared incorporated in 1987. Today Bee Cave is growing and the population now exceeds 9000. Bee Cave is serviced by the highly acclaimed Lake Travis Independent School District. Lake Travis ISD features eight public school campuses including Bee Cave Elementary School as well as 2 middle school campuses and one high school campus. Several schools within the district are rated Recognized and Exemplary and are considered among the best schools in Texas. Lake Travis ISD provides excellence in academics to over 5,500 students throughout the Austin suburb area.

Bee Cave is one of the fastest growing Austin suburb communities. Homes in Bee Cave include older established homes within the communities of Rob Roy, Camelot and others. These homes are typical ranch or traditional style homes featuring amenities of the late 80s and 90s.
