Balcones is a suburb community of Austin, Texas. The community is located off highway 183 northwest of Austin and got its start in the mid 1900s. There are several subdivisions within Balcones. These communities first started construction as early as the 1970s. Balcones has become very popular over the years. Reasons for this recent popularity include the close proximity and easy commute to Austin and nearby shopping, but also because of the great natural design of the different communities within the Balcones area.
